Mt. Bachelor Weekend

Last weekend, a crew of us from Portland and Seattle set off for a weekend of skiing/snowshoeing and special meeting in Central Oregon. We had gorgeous weather, even though the lack of recent snow made for a rather icy day on the slopes. Alec was up from Sacramento...yay! = ) Made the weekend even more fun!

The snowshoeing crew...ready for the trek.

Mt. Bachelor...Angela and I kept wishing for binoculars, because that is where the boys were skiing at. = )

Typical Angela picture....it takes true talent to be able to sleep in the snow.

Pretty views!

We made it!

Going down was much faster than climbing up...Angela showed us why.

Sarah is from Texas, and had never built a snowman. We had to fix that...

Meanwhile...across the highway and high on Mt. Bachelor...

Dave, Justin, Alec and Craig
Well, they TOLD us they were skiing...pictures like this one of Craig and Alec do make a person wonder... = )

Alec...ready for some serious skiing.

Very sad...somehow this is the only picture we took the whole weekend where Alec and I managed to be in it together! Dan drove over to pick the skiing crew up from the slopes after we were done snowshoeing...Angela and I rode along to surprise Dave and Alec as they finished up skiing.

Look world! No training wheels!

I had my violin lesson on Tuesday, and was "commenting" (aka complaining) to my teacher that the blue tape we were using to mark where my third finger should be situated on all the strings was getting sticky and not staying in place anymore. Instead of replacing it as he always has before, he took it off and wouldn't put a new piece back on. All by ear now!

Given up yet?

Finally. Some pictures and news from my corner of the world!

Life is busy here! Those 4th graders are keeping me hopping these days! Hard to believe we are already in our 5th month of school! Time flies! Violin lessons are coming along nicely as well. I think I'm past the squeaky stage...that has to be progress anyway!

I am also still spending a fair amount of time in Sacramento these days. Alec was up here to meet my family at Thanksgiving and I flew down there and got to meet his parents at Christmas time. These pics are from Christmas break with him. = ) It was a fun two weeks! I actually just dropped him off at the airport after a weekend of sking/snowshoeing in Bend. Now I won't see him until Valentine's Day weekend...that sounds like a long 24 days until then! I suppose I will survive...somehow... = )

Dinner at Jack and Nancy Paddon's house...Alec goes to their house for Sunday morning meeting.

Looking at Alec's baby pictures...

My mom sent stockings for Alec and I to open on Christmas Day...I got a Grow-a-Frog, and Alec acquired some new fish. = )

Alec and his dad - we did some decorating while I was there. Put up curtains, hung mirrors, bought pictures, etc.

Alec bought these new pictures for his living room wall while I was there.

My espresso machine, all set up in my kitchen! Pretty sweet set-up, isn't it?

And this is the delicious treat that my new toy produces... = )

My roomies must have missed me...they decorated my room with cut-out bananas while I was in Sacramento over Christmas break.

An up-close picture of the banana decorating.

My first violin concert. = )

On the third Thursday of every month, a crew of us kids get together and try out a new resturant in Portland. This particular resturant was an Ethiopian resturant.

Another Thursday dinner...this time at a resturant of my choice. We went to Kells, an Irish resturant!

Portland bridges at night...after eating dinner at Kells, we walked along the river. Pretty, isn't it?
